Following Shadow's example, Brokel seeked permission from Dende to enter the Time Chamber.
"I'm not sure, a ghost has never tried such a feat. I fear you may not return Brokel, and we need you, even though you are a spirit for the time being." Dende looked at Brokel with a hard, caring gaze. "Yes, but sitting around shooting things isn't helping; this may be my only chance to actually train." Dende sighed asBrokel said this, and unwillingly gave in. "Okay, Mr. Popo will throw your supplies in for you before you enter. Best of luck, my friend. You will need all the luck you can get."
Brokel looked back at Dende's concerned face, then ran in after the supplies were tossed in by Mr. Popo. Brokel's first action when the door closed was to walkover to the supplies. He got his hand ready, and, taking a deep breath, grabbed the strap. He picked the bag up!! It was a miracle! He was a solid being again! Although he was certain he'd become a ghost again when he returned to Earth, he enthusiastically stretched for 10 minutes. Then he split his body into four, the other three all 'discovering' him and rushing towards him. One rushed head on while the other two came at his sides. The first one did a jump kick as the other two threw punches. Brokel skillfully caught both punches and twisted his body sideways, avoiding the kick. He let go of the two Brokels on his sides and ducked, watching them punch the one that was kicking in the groin. Brokel laughed as the two punchers puckered their faces aftereralizing what they'd done.
Then they got serious.
All three rushed again, less predictably, and Brokel had a hard time fending off their attacks. After a while they started striking more and more hits. Exhausted, Brokel used IT to get behind one. He used that one as a punching bag, then as a shield to block the other two who, knowing hurting that one would hurt the real Brokel, relentlessy attacked. This one, being beaten badly, reformed with Brokel who felt the beating the clone had taken.
He fell on his hands and knees coughing up blood. The two clones came up to his sides. He forced himself to one knee, only to get hit hard in the back by an elbow. He fell all the way down, then they kicked him while he was on the ground. He IT'd away, only to find to his dark surprise that they had also used Instant Transmission. The clones kicked him back and forth between each other.
He laid on the floor, motionless, his mind and heart racing. He thought rapidly of how to deal with himself. He forced himself up before they got the chance to wait for him and he focused onone at a time.
They moved in sequence, one, then the other, and brokel had caught on. He watched them grow uneasy as he successfully blocked more and more of thier attacks. He then contered one by sidestepping a punch and kneed him in the neck. That clone went down as the other rushed up. Brokel and the clone went into a melee grapple.
"I'm gonna hurt u bad!!" The clone yelled, starting to overpower the weakening Brokel.
"BRING IT!!" Brokel headbutted the clone several times, making him step back and loosen his melee grip. Brokel took this chance and rapidly attacked his weak spots, punching his neck and stomach and kneeing him in the chest then delivering a backflip kick to his jaw. The clone fell to his knees, then fell onto the floor, melting and returning to Brokel.
Two down, one to go.
But Brokel's body was failing. He wounded himself more with each clone's defeat, adding their injuries to his.
All for the sake of progress. He forced his body forward at the waiting clone and got sent flying back by a combo. He hit the wall hard, cracking the tiles and making a small crater. He forced himself out of the crater and fell to one knee on purpose.
It worked.the clone started to rush up.
"Ka....me....ha....me...." he uttered quietly as the clone got ever closer, unaware of the growing blue ball of energy that Brokel had hidden from his sight.
As the clone loomed in Brokel's failing vision, he saw the clone stop and stare.
"HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" He sent the beam at the clone.
But the clone reacted in time, countering with a Kamehameha of his own.
A beam standoff ensued. Brokel, to win, changed to Super Saiyan, but the clone mirrored his move. The clone started to win, Brokel's blast being overtaken. It go so close that it burned Brokel
"NO!" Brokel thought of all the people who had died or disappeared.
"I CAN'T!" more images flashed in his head as the beam edged even closer, burning his hands the worst.
"I WON'T LET MYSELF DIE!!" He felt an awesome surge of energy course through his body and heard electricity crack through the air. His kamehameha easily overwhelmed his clone's. The clone melted and reformed with Brokel, the massive damage making Brokel pass out.
He woke up a little while later and took a sip of water, eating a senzu bean. He bandaged his wounds and summoned three more clones.
He started training again.
This time he took out two clones early but then had to deal with the third clone for 3 hours of nonstop fighting.
He again passed out after defeating the third clone.
He trained like this nonstop, passingout every time, waking up and putting more bandages on, and doing it again. He felt stronger after each time.
Taking a break from training every three battles, he meditated and slept and ate and healed himself using herbs.
He once tried four clones. He fought them for 4 Hyperbolic days straight before finishing them all off at once.
They had beaten him into a corner. Then he snapped, and again went past Super Saiyan, lightning cracking around him and his hair even more on end.
He had finally reached Super Saiyan 2. He trained more and more vigorously, trying to control it better.
But finally the year in the chamber came to an end. He was dragged out by Mr. Popo after taking on 12 clones and defeating them all, leaving his body in a state of disaster. Luckily he stayed solid long enough to be treated, going ghost again after being healed but before waking up.
